NEXTGEN Red Road Approach Curriculum for Youth

This curriculum seeks to facilitate a safe environment for participants to identify communication styles that encourage healthy expression, exploration of collective and individual identity, leadership and “Healing through Feeling.” Youth participants will also be guided through lessons on the impacts of alcohol and drugs on their mind, body and spirit. This curriculum is a 16-20 week youth program that can be implemented within communities, schools, counseling and treatment centers and other agencies that serve or work with youth.

Red Road Approach for Youth 3 Day Certificate Training:

The Objectives of the training are; 1) To provide participants with an opportunity for self-examination, education and professional growth through experiencing a holistic and culturally relevant model to heal from addiction and grief, 2) To provide cultural knowledge with an opportunity to regenerate one’s spirit for balance 3) To promote an understanding of the importance of cultural uniqueness when engaging with Native American/Alaskan Native/Indigenous youth 4) To understand the implications and effects of inter-generational and historical trauma on youth and their identities as a whole, and 5) To offer Technical Assistance to facilitators during their curriculum implementation process.

Who Should Attend:

The NEXTGEN Red Road Approach training is a grass roots-based program for community members, social workers, mental health clinicians, addiction counselors, case managers, spiritual practitioners, tribal law enforcement, tribal council leadership. school faculty and anyone interested in learning the Red Road Approach to healing.
